Who we are

Staig & Smith Ltd is a long-established Surveying Consultancy with its origins dating back to 1950. Times have changed considerably and we have changed with them.

Expansion of services to meet the varied requirements of our clients has seen Staig & Smith Ltd develop into a multi-discipline company.  The company is based in Nelson, but serves private, corporate, government and local authority clients throughout the lower North Island, the West Coast and top of the South Island.

Staig & Smith Ltd employs professional planners, surveyors along with engineering staff and support from a team of experienced staff with modern systems and technology.

We offer a broad base of services to assist clients in bringing their projects to fruition within the framework of the Resource Management Act and Local Authority planning regulations and LINZ requirements.

Supporting the Community

As well as enhancing the environment through its work, Staig & Smith supports the local community with a number of sponsorships.  Among these are the annual Corporate Eights Rowing Challenge and the Brook Waimarama Sanctuary, a community-based initiative working to create a pest-free wildlife sanctuary close to Nelson's city centre.  The company also participated in the Big Beach Clean Up and the Reservoir Creek rehabilitation.

AWARD FOR EXCELLENCE

Staig and Smith have won an NZ Institute of Surveyors award for excellence for our work on the Galeo estate project,  The award recognises outstanding practises, innovation and results in the planning and implementation of the project.
